Courageous Communication

How To Stop Overthinking And Start Connecting, Even If You Usually Freeze

I know exactly what it feels like to have the right answers but stay quiet. You are highly capable, but the pressure holds you back.

From Hiding To Connection

My name is Geoffrey “Jef” Huck. For a long time, I was the last person you would expect to teach communication. I grew up in a small French village and spent most of my youth behind a computer, eventually competing at the International Olympiads in Informatics. While code made perfect sense, social situations terrified me.

My social anxiety became so severe that I dropped out of university because the physical pressure of attending was simply too intense. I found a job as a software engineer, but would panic whenever I had to answer the phone or speak in front of colleagues. Hoping to find freedom, I became a freelancer to escape office interactions, but this only led to deeper isolation. I was avoiding my own neighbors, drinking more to cope, and unsuccessfully trying everything from meditation to drugs to fix my anxiety.

Facing The Discomfort

My turning point happened when I pictured myself at 60 years old: completely alone and isolated. I realized I could not live that way, and made a firm decision to force myself to talk to people until the fear disappeared.

Instead of avoiding pressure, I began seeking it out. I started traveling alone to places like Greece, Egypt, and Japan. I pushed myself to attend language exchange events and even joined a poetry group to practice speaking and sharing what I had inside. I discovered that fear and pressure can actually be used as a compass. They point directly toward the things that matter most.

Why Courageous Communication Exists

Over the years, I transformed from someone who hid from his neighbors to someone who networks globally, coaches entrepreneurs, and speaks on stages.

That is why I created Courageous Communication. My mission is to help intelligent, ambitious overthinkers stop hiding. You do not need to fake an extroverted personality; you just need to learn how to function while the pressure is present. Through my book, The Extrovert Switch, and my asynchronous digital courses, I share the exact, practical steps I used to stop freezing and start connecting.

International Speaking Workshops

Leading a workshop on courageous communication at the 2026 Toastmasters District Conference in Metz, bringing together members from France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

In this workshop, I explore social anxiety, courage, rejection, authenticity, and how people can learn to move toward difficult but meaningful conversations.

The session combines personal experience, exposure-based growth, public speaking psychology, and practical communication philosophy.
“The situations that create pressure inside you are often pointing toward the conversations that matter most.”
